New York State AHPERD is a collective structure of inter-related professionals whose mission is to provide the environment for professional growth and enrichment for our membership. Ultimately, the results of this coordinated commitment will enhance the quality of opportunities provided for those we serve.

Membership in NYS AHPERD is on an annual basis. Membership categories include active professionals in the field, undergraduate and graduate students in the fields of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and/or Dance, retired professionals, associate members: individuals not meeting the qualifications of the professional member but who have an interest in the support of these professions, and life membership.

NYS AHPERD is in constant and close contact with educational leaders at the state level.

NYS AHPERD can provide workshops relative to the New York State Learning Standards; what they are and how to implement them at the local level.
