The first Carol A. Atkins Memorial Scholarship was awarded at Scotia-Glenville HS on Friday, June 2, 2023. This scholarship was created by the Capital Zone to honor Carol who passed in 2021, after a 5-year battle with cancer. The inaugural award was presented by Carol's sister Bev Spencer, close friend Ellen Montanaro and Capital Zone member Barb Wurz. The $500 scholarship was awarded to Stephanie James. Stephanie will be attending the College of ST. Rose in the fall majoring in biology. She was very pleased to be the recipient of an award that honored one of her former teachers that she so admired.
