About Us
Our Zone is made up of members living and/or working in Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Schuyler, Tioga and Tompkins counties. We host monthly meetings from September through June and a local conference in the January. We invite you to join us and become a part of a diverse and robust organization that continually works to enhance our members knowledge and skills, ensuring their students have the highest quality health and physical education programs possible.

Central South Zone recognizes excellence among our dedicated professionals with our Physical Education Teacher of the Year, Health Teacher of the Year & Amazing Person Awards. We celebrate our outstanding students with our annual Student Leadership Awards.

Awards
Student Leadership Awards
Each spring Central South Zone recognizes two students from grades 4 or 5, grades 7 or 8 and 12th grade with the Healthy and Physically Active Student Award. Students are selected by the PE Teachers and the awards are mailed to the PE teachers by BOCES to be given to students during award assemblies. The awards are generally given to students in the highest grade level per building.
Central South Zone Amazing People Award Recipients
Amazing People award recipients are selected by the Zone President with input from the Zone Board. The award is presented at the NYS AHPERD Conference in November.

Grants
Central South Zone offers grants to assist current, Zone members.
Grants valued at $500 each are offered by random drawing to current NYS AHPERD Members who attend the Zone Conference in January. Funding may be used for physical education, health, recreation or dance related program needs within a school district, to assist with conference attendance or other professional development or for the purchase of literature, etc.
