The Lifetime Service Award is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the Association upon one of our members. It is awarded based upon meritorious service to our profession through NYS AHPERD; the nominee should have extensive and continuous involvement in our Association, having served in the presidential rotation, on the board of directors; as a member of the executive council, secretary, and/or treasurer.

is given to an outstanding administrator or teacher who is recognized as an extraordinary leader and who has contributed exceptional service to the Association and our profession.
is given to an outstanding director who has contributed significantly to the improvement of physical education programs in servicing the youth of his/her own school district, and/or in New York State.
is given to a School Administrator, Coordinator, and/or Educator in a leadership role who has demonstrated a commitment to exceptional leadership in fostering a comprehensive and coordinated K-12 program in health, physical education, recreation and or dance in their district.
honors exemplary faculty who teach health education, physical education, exercise science, recreation and/or dance programs and who have made outstanding contributions to their college/university.
Through the Bernard E. Hughes Award, the Association recognizes persons and organizations outside the professions of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance who have made outstanding contributions to New York State AHPERD or the professions of Health, Physical Education, Recreation or Dance.
is given in recognition of those individuals who through word, action and deed, reveal that the effort made to enhance and achieve the goals and objectives of quality health, physical education, recreation or dance programs is a labor of love inspired by commitment and dedication.
are given by Zones and Sections to honor individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the profession. The Amazing People Awards are presented at the Annual Conference at the Amazing People Awards Ceremony on Thursday evening.
Amazing People Award recipients are selected by the particular Zone or Section. Current membership in NYS AHPERD is required.
