criteria for the nys ahperd

distinguished service award

Nominees must have been a NYS AHPERD professional member for the previous 15 years and their membership must be current. They must hold at least a  baccalaureate degree or equivalent in study.

Nominees shall have:

• Rendered distinguished service to the profession through NYS AHPERD.
• Demonstrated leadership as documented in the application, including leadership within NYS AHPERD at the state level, and at least two of the following areas, leadership at the local level, or advocacy/presentations, or writing or research or service to students.
• Have a minimum of 15 years experience, ten of which must be in the fields of physical education and/or health education, or recreation and/or dance education, or have equivalent experience in other fields of education from which outstanding contributions were made in health education, physical education, recreation education and/or dance education.
