teacher of the year award

Nominees must have a minimum of ten (10) years of teaching experience; job responsibilities in the past three (3) years must include teaching in the discipline for which you have been nominated; must be a current member of NYS AHPERD and have been a professional member of NYS AHPERD for a minimum of five (5) years,

with at least three (3) years of that membership being within the last five years.

Nominees must show evidence relative to the following criteria:

• Active involvement at the school district level
• Active involvement at the state, district and/or national levels
• Other professional affiliations
• Presentations or publications
• Honors and awards
• Community service
• Participates in professional development
• Quality program delivery
• Outstanding civility, character and citizenship while demonstrating sensitivity to the needs of students
